I didn't realize the Oriental Poppies (Papaver orientale 'Karine') would bloom frequently over the summer. Here is one of the flowers in September 2006 with a little rain damage:
And this was at the Summer's End party when everyone let their hair loose and even danced with the spiders:

Stunning phots...what a beautiful poppy
Another blog with summer flowers...we are all anxious for those lazy hazy days it seems.
Great photos..love the one with the spider..!
Ooooooooooooooooooooohhhh! That poppy is more than beautifull!
I just had one sort of poppy blooming in my garden last year, a red one, papaver orientale 'Olymic fire'. It was stunning!
I have send you the Word version of the pillow box, let me know if you have received it. MSN is full of error pages again.
Lovely poppy photos and the shells are really beautiful.
Oh that is the most beautiful poppy I've ever seen! I didn't realize there were poppy shells when they were finished. Those are pretty too. Around here we have the bright orange wild California poppies scattered around. I've been wanting to plant some domestic seed and now for sure I am after seeing your photos! They look like tissue paper, don't they?
I enjoyed the stalks of poppy seedhead after the petals fell off, but I had no idea there would be anything left by now. The stalks were gone but these shells were just laying on the ground. I did not start these from seed. I did have another little poppy that came up from some very old seed I had, but I have no idea how these Oriental do from seed. The flower petals are like tissue paper indeed!
I love poppies. I've never grown them. Maybe this will be the year. I didn't realize they bloomed that much. I thought once and done.
