So many of my sunflowers are red or partial red. This one in the pumpkin patch stands out for its yellowness. Several of them are over 6 feet (including this one), but none have large flowers this year. May just be the variety. Many are multi-branched, though. This is one from a sunflower seed mixture I purchased from a local grower.
The flowers in the pumpkin patch are the tallest, probably because they are not crowded. They were planted a little late. This is the first in the pumpkin patch to bloom, whereas the self-seeded ones have been blooming since early July.

Lovely cheerful yellow that.
We didn't grow them this year as the clodlet didn't get his act together.
That yellow just jumps right out of the screen. I love the picture of your July garden.
i think we planted sunflowers once and since then all of them have been self-seeded. we dig them up and move them into better areas while they are still seedlings. i may not have to plant them ever again!
Beautiful! Love the lemony yellow.
I love that sunflower. All of mine are yellow and I'd love some reddish ones. The self seeded ones bloomed ahead of the ones I planted too. Now I've got a whole new crop growing around a bird feeder and some are pretty tall.
