It's almost time for making tart cherry sauce. We are deep in yard cleanup today so the cherry sauce will be a treat (in a week or so) for all this work. Here is the recipe, from a year with many more cherries on the tree.

How on earth do you manage to protect them from the birds? I don't see any netting. I find that blackbirds just decimate the whole crop.

Matron - they are tart cherries and I didn't think the birds or bugs bothered them much. There is another large tree next to this that the blackbirds prefer and we cannot reach.

My neighbor and I were talking yesterday and the neighbor caught a robin in action on this little tart cherry tree! So your warning is well timed. There aren't many cherries this year, so I'll need all I can get.
